Although I did not always know I wanted to be a teacher, I have always enjoyed helping others to understand, by taking a topic and representing it in a way that means something to them; that moment of clarity when someone makes connections and sense of something, continues to be at the heart of my love of teaching. One of my most heart-felt beliefs is that everyone should be allowed the best possible potential of being happy and successful. It is this desire that led me to begin volunteering with a charity whilst I was at university, which placed mentors with vulnerable children in deprived areas. After some time teaching in Madrid, I returned to England and began my teacher training with TeachFirst, a charity whose mission is to create a fairer education for all.  After this placement was complete, I remained at my placement school in Harlow. It was here that I honed my passion for helping children demonstrating SEMH difficulties, so when the opportunity arose for a position in Phoenix at Magna Carta, I was eager to apply! I hope that by reframing children’s behaviour and by retraining brains, all children can be given another chance to be happy and successful.
