Pilot inspires aspirations in children
Posted: 17th February 2020Children were given a unique insight into the world of planes, thanks to a parent.
Year 3 pupils from Magna Carta Primary Academy were invited to take a tour of the Ryanair hangar at Stansted Airport by parent Anthony Xyppas.
The pilot took the children to experience the multi-million-pound flight simulators as part of their work on aspirations, enterprise and careers.
Headteacher Marios Solomonides said: “Anthony showed the children different parts of the engine and explained what the plane does. But, he also told them all about his career as a pilot; the skills and qualifications he has, how he uses maths and science in his work and why he has to stay physically fit.
“The main purpose of the trip was the careers aspect. Our children now know a little bit more about what it takes to be a pilot.”
