Teachers film storytime for children
Posted: 12th May 2020Are you sitting comfortably? Then storytime with your teacher will begin…online.
Teachers and co-educators from Magna Carta Primary Academy have filmed a series of videos of themselves reading stories to pupils.
Families are able to access the videos from home while the school remains closed to the majority of pupils.
Headteacher Marios Solomonides read his favourite classic children’s story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea, which sits alongside more than 25 others for pupils to enjoy.
He said: “We are doing the storytime videos because we want our pupils to hear our voices and to see our faces.
“This pandemic is difficult enough for adults to understand and deal with, but for our children, they need to know they are not alone and that they are in our thoughts even if we don’t see each other for a while.
“I know from parent feedback that their children are enjoying watching the videos and listening to the stories.
“The true benefits of an initiative like this are perhaps unknown, but children seeing their teachers reading to them can only be a good thing.” Enjoy the stories here.
