Young poets practise recital performance
Posted: 14th December 2020Young poets practised their performance skills on their classmates.
Pupils in all year groups at Magna Carta Primary Academy practised reciting and performing poems to the rest of their class.
The best two performers from each class – based on how well rehearsed pupils were and their actual performance - went on to perform to the rest of the school during a virtual assembly.
Deputy headteacher Teresa Avey, English lead, said: “We wanted the children to be involved in a project that could be celebrated together in each class, as well as the whole school. With the current situation, we felt it was important to take part in a collaborative event to maintain the close school community.
“The children really enjoyed sharing their own poems and seeing all the other performances. Parents supported the event by helping their children to learn and recite their poems. Some parents took part themselves, sharing their own recitals, via our online learning platform, which was lovely for the pupils to see.”
Each winner was presented with a poetry book.
