Dads and grandads go back to school
Posted: 25th June 2018Pupils are looking much older these days…
Children at Magna Carta Primary Academy were excited to mark Father’s Day by taking their dads and grandads into school with them.
A morning was spent learning new skills, reading and sharing hobbies together.
Headteacher Marios Solomonides said: “We invited our pupils’ male relatives to come in and spend time with the children, sharing their hobbies, skills and talents with their children’s class.
“We thought it would be nice for them to come in and share new experiences, to show the children that their dads and grandads value their education and to welcome the male relatives into school. It was also a way to show our pupils how easy it can be to spend quality time together with their families, without needing technology or necessarily going anywhere.
“The children were beaming when their dads were showing their classmates something new.
“Our visitors were all brilliant and it was a lovely occasion.”
Dads and grandads taught children how to make paper aeroplanes, talked to them about hobbies such as model making and cycling and discussed careers such as firefighting.
