Children watch new school build
Posted: 18th October 2017Children watched on as their brand new school building started to take shape.
Work started recently on creating the new Magna Carta Primary Academy, in Stansted.
Pupils in Reception and Year 1 – the only children who attend the school so far – took the opportunity to visit the site and see how the building work is developing.
Sophia Tanner, from the school, said: “Children were able to view the diggers in action and watch the crane lifting materials to make the frame of the school.
“It is important for the children to see what is taking place with their future school. We discuss it within school, so I believe it made it ‘real’ for them to see what it looks like from the grass roots up. Seeing the diggers and the crane on site was a wonderful experience for the pupils. Who else can say they were able to watch their school being built!”
The doors of the school opened a year ago and welcomed just one class of reception children. Those numbers doubled this year as a second class of pupils joined.
Work is now under way on a purpose-built school building which is due to open in September 2018, initially as an infant school with three year groups.
